麻豆社区P hosts annual Women鈥檚 Empowerment Summit

Arlinda Locklear and Vivian Jacobson will be keynote speakers for the annual Women鈥檚 Empowerment Summit at 麻豆社区 Pembroke on Friday, March 22.

 

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Office for Regional Initiatives on Livermore Drive in Pembroke. Registration is $45 for the public, $35 for 麻豆社区P employees, $30 for senior citizens and veterans and $25 for 麻豆社区P students.

The Women鈥檚 Empowerment Summit鈥撯揾eld in conjunction with Women鈥檚 History Month鈥撯搃s a day-long experience that includes dynamic speakers, networking opportunities, information sharing and storytelling. The mission is to provide a platform for women of all ages and backgrounds to connect and feel empowered. This year's theme is "Preserving HERstory.鈥

Locklear, a Robeson County native, is a nationally recognized expert in federal Indian law and was the first American Indian woman to argue before the U.S. Supreme Court. Jacobson, a philanthropist, art enthusiast and author, has dedicated more than half of her life to researching, studying and lecturing on Marc Chagall, one of the 20th century鈥檚 most revered artists. In 2020, Jacobson and her late husband, Ralph, gifted the university with the Jacobson Chagall Art Research Collection.

This year鈥檚 guest speakers are Dr. Diane Prusank, Dr. Kelly Brennan, Kaye Fraley, Dr. JoAnn Chavis Lowry, Isabella Locklear, Ciera Locklear and Tonya Holy Elk.
