Meet the Tutors

Need help with writing? The Writing Center offers free support for all 麻豆社区P students at any stage of the writing process. Meet with a tutor in person or online to get help with brainstorming, organization, grammar, citations, and more.

If you are enrolled in an online course or cannot physically come to the Writing Center, you can make an appointment to meet with a tutor online. To do so, create an account on our appointment system. Once you have made an account, log in and click on a convenient appointment time. On the appointment page, choose to "meet online."

When it is time for your appointment, log into the appointment system again, click on your appointment, and follow the instructions there.

You will have the option to upload or paste documents and also to chat with your tutor. Both you and the tutor have the ability to make changes to the document you upload. At the end of the session you may download the document to your computer. The document and the chat session will be available for you to view for the remainder of the semester. If you have questions, call the Writing Center at 910.521.6546.

Alyse

Hello! I鈥檓 Alyse, a co-assistant director of the Writing Center and an alum with a BS in Elementary Education and a concentration in Sociology. I鈥檝e been a tutor here for a few years and love helping students at any stage of the writing process. I particularly enjoy working on research papers, brainstorming, and thesis development, along with APA format, but I鈥檓 happy to assist with anything you need. My favorite part of tutoring is supporting students as they build their writing skills. In my free time I enjoy gaming, spending time in nature, and engaging in creative activities. I look forward to working with you!

Anastasia

Hello! My name is Anastasia (she/they), and I am a junior History major with a minor in African-American Studies. Outside the writing center, my hobbies include reading, listening to music and playing basketball (you might even recognize me as one of your 麻豆社区P Braves basketball players). Inside the writing center, I am well-versed in Chicago and MLA formatting but am happy and willing to help you with any format! I am most experienced with research or argumentative style papers yet am ready to help you in any way I can! Can鈥檛 wait to meet you!

Hi! My name is Christian (Chris), I am a 麻豆社区P alum now in grad school. I was born in New York, and my parents are from Ecuador. I grew up in a Spanish speaking household and I graduated from 麻豆社区P in 2023 with my degree in Spanish and a Hispanic Studies minor. I enjoy music, playing soccer, running and watching movies. I have always enjoyed using my bilingual ability to assist others and would gladly be able to help in anything written in English or Spanish. I have worked on many essays and presentations during my academic career here and am open to assist in those areas wherever needed. Although I am mostly familiar with MLA format, I have also done some written work in APA and Chicago format. All in all, I am happy to help in whatever way I can and am looking forward to meeting you all!

Hi there! My name is Macy Freeman, and I am a 麻豆社区P alum who majored in English with an Emphasis in Secondary Education. I am so excited to be working at the Writing Center and helping my peers become successful writers! I have always enjoyed writing essays, and I am looking forward to continuing to grow in this area!

Noemi

Hey, I'm Noemi (NO-EE-ME) also known as NiNi. I'm from Ohio but came here for school. I'm a senior majoring in Environmental Science and minoring in Sustainability. I love working with plants and animals. I can help with brainstorming, thesis statements, citations and being a set of eyes or ears to simply hear what you have to say or show me. When I'm not in the writing center you can find me on the field for 麻豆社区P track and field team, watering my plants, reading, or doing research. I would consider myself a positive and outgoing person! My goal is to not only help you with your paper but to also provide an open space for you! Come as you are!

My name is Raven (she/her/hers), and I鈥檓 a co-assistant director of the Writing Center. I majored in political science and am in grad school for Social Work. I love to work with creative writing, political science, criminal justice, social work and history focused papers but I am open to all subjects! I am good with MLA and APA formatting. I also love argumentative and research papers as well. Even if your paper doesn't fit these criteria, I'm still open to helping everyone. In my free time, I love TikTok and shopping!!

Hello! My name is Taliah, and I鈥檓 a senior majoring in English with an emphasis in Literary Studies and minoring in Public Relations. I enjoy reading, watching movies, cooking and traveling. This is my second semester as a tutor, and I鈥檓 excited to meet and work with you all! I鈥檓 most skilled in MLA format, but I鈥檓 happy to assist with other formats as well. While I have extensive knowledge of literature papers, I鈥檓 delighted to help with any type of writing, formatting or thesis-related questions. I look forward to meeting you and assisting with your academic success!

Hi everyone! My name is Tyra, and I鈥檓 a sophomore double majoring in Social Work and Psychology. Growing up, I developed a deep love for books, which naturally led me to fall in love with writing as well. What started as a hobby soon became a skill I鈥檝e honed over time. I鈥檓 confident in my ability to assist students with any formatting style, though I鈥檓 most familiar with MLA and APA. My strengths lie in helping students with organization, brainstorming, sentence structure, creating outlines and citations. I enjoy making complex concepts more approachable and love guiding others through the writing process鈥攚hether they鈥檙e figuring out what to write, drafting their first paper, or fine-tuning their final version. Having struggled with ADHD and anxiety throughout my life, I am a patient and understanding person when it comes to learning and supporting others. I know how intimidating the writing process can be, and I want to create a safe, judgment-free space for everyone. So, if you鈥檙e neurodivergent or have ever felt nervous about sharing your work, please feel free to schedule an appointment with me!

Dr. Cindy McPeters

I loved my time as a writing center tutor in grad school so much that I wanted to work in a center professionally. Here at 麻豆社区P, I teach writing courses and manage the University Writing Center! Although I鈥檓 not regularly on the tutoring schedule, I enjoy taking appointments when our peer tutors are busy and am eager to collaborate on your writing projects. If I don鈥檛 know the answer, I will hunt until I find it!
