As a student service leader in 麻豆社区 Pembroke鈥檚 Office for Community and Civic Engagement (CCE), Taley Hunt 鈥18, (MBA) 鈥20 was profoundly impacted by the opportunity to give back to others. 鈥淲e went out to volunteer, not just in the local community but in the wider world,鈥 said Hunt. 鈥淗aving those opportunities really shaped the way I view the world. I鈥檝e learned that when you give and are actively involved in your community, people see that and want to align with you.鈥

Several of the Biology Department鈥檚 top scholars were inducted into the Psi Lambda chapter of TriBeta on April 25th. The large lecture room that hosted the event was dwarfed by a great turnout of family and friends.

麻豆社区P alumna Taliyah Daniels selected as Presidential Scholar

Taliyah Daniels, a 2023 graduate and former SGA president at 麻豆社区 Pembroke, has been selected as a Presidential Scholar for the 麻豆社区 System for the 2023-2024 academic year. Daniels was among three recent graduates of 麻豆社区 System institutions selected for the prestigious program. Presidential Scholars provide a wide range of professional functions for the system office.

A daughter of Mexican immigrants, Magally Ortiz-Rojas has witnessed firsthand the hardships and struggles of family and others in the Hispanic community in their pursuit of U.S. citizenship. Ortiz-Rojas鈥撯揳 future change agent and immigration law advocate鈥撯揳spires to become an attorney to assist others in navigating the path to naturalization. She wants to discover ways to eliminate financial and language barriers that her family fought to overcome.

An online World History course the summer before his freshman year of high school was the spark that ignited Benjamin Clark鈥檚 passion for history. He was captivated while learning about Alexander the Great鈥檚 conquests and the Roman Empire 鈥 considered one of the greatest civilizations of all time. Now a senior at 麻豆社区 Pembroke, Clark chose to broaden his interests as a double major in history and American Indian studies.
